The Woohoo! Report

A long time ago, but not in a land far away unless you live out of the country, a couple had a brilliant idea. Excited about the potential for greatness and change, the woman posted about it here.

The idea is not exactly original, though what they envision for it is very, very big, and they do hope that is original. Even if it’s not, though, the goal is to change the overwhelmingly negative vibe in the universe to one of happiness and hope. After all, even the smallest person can change the course of the world.

The problem is, the couple has experienced a great deal of Life in between, and like many ideas, this one sadly fell by the wayside.

Until one day someone Stumbled the site (they swear, it wasn’t them!!) and it received over a thousand viewers in one day. There are even a couple of subscribers.

DAAAMN! said the wife. AWESOME!! said the husband. WE HAVE TO GET THIS GOING! said the husband and wife together.

What the Hell I’m Talking About

We were going to keep this secret for a while until it became a lot better, but in an effort to get the idea off the ground, here it is. What I am thinking now is that the more people we get participating in this and enjoying it, the more it will grow and affect people in wonderful ways. At least, that’s what we hope.

Without further ado, then, I present to you The Wooohoo! Report. I encourage you to read the About section, as well as The Woohoo! Factor (this page could be so great!!) and the Welcome pages.

Let me know what you think.

  • Really awesome, Steph (and Colin). You should both be super proud. It looks great and it will do well. And WOW! Steph, you are quite the juggler.

  • Glad you like it, Sean! We’re pretty excited.

And yeah, I know. The thing is, I SUCK at multi-tasking and juggling. Hence the husband, who does not suck, thankfully!

  • Steph,

This is fun! Now we can chat over here, and over there too :) back over there now…

  • So…(am I missing something here?)

I see some of the blog posts going back to July. Howcum I didnt’ know about this? (Did this site just go public now? Or was it around for a while, and I was just clued out and didn’t realize it existed?).

Shit. Woohoo is a good site. If wish I had known about it earlier!

  • Hey Friar: I didn’t tell anyone until now. We went live in June or July, but then it got abandoned by us (finding good news is hard and we got caught up in other things).

Anyway, I’m still tweaking, trying to get the comment form to work and other stuff set up, like email.

But no, to answer your question, you aren’t missing anything. I didn’t say what we had up our sleeves until today.

So you like it, huh? It’s not too much sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows for you? :)

  • @Steph

No…not too much sunshine and lollipops at all.

    Actually, I LIKE IT. :-D

It’s not preachy..it’s not telling us what to do or how to change our lives.

No..it’s just a straight-forward presentation of facts and new ideas. Then you let people discuss their comments.

I wish there were more blogs like this.

I think you and Colin might just have something here.

  • WOOHOO!! I hope so!

Anything that has the Friar stamp of approval is awesome in my books!
    :)

  • That was sweet. Really great graphic design too. I like it (can you tell?)

  • SW: I’m glad you like it! I’ve spent all day doing stuff on it, and I’m happier than anything about how it’s turning out. Email is working on it, as is the comment form.

    WOOHOO!!

PS. I’d like to thank Homer Simpson for his inspiration…

  • PS. It’s a free theme I found and it was just perfect. All we’ve paid for on this site is the hosting! :)

  • Just checked out your new site and I really like it. What a great and encouraging idea!

  • Hey Dube!

Glad you like it! I really hope it spreads a ton of cheer, if I can be cheesy!

  • Steph, this is awesome! I have added it to my reader. A much needed service in this world of bad news! It is a brilliant idea! Yay!

  • Hey Karen!

Thanks! And thanks for adding us to your reader! if there’s any news you want to share, let me know and I can post it! :)

  • What an awesome idea! I love it! Subscribed!

  • Betsy: Hooray!! Thank you!

If this kind of thing keeps up and Colin and I can deliver, we hope to be able to do a lot of good, e.g., pick charities and other causes worthy of our attention to help and promote, etc. We have lots of ideas but are also open to ones from others. The site has a lot of growing to do first, but you guys are already helping with that!

  • Very cool! I refuse to read, watch, or listen to the news because it’s always so dang depressing. Nice to know there’s a place I can go that will only give me the good news story!

  • Steph:

My Vikign buddy Olaf Thunderfröck would like to endorse your new WooHoo site. He asked me to pass on this message to you:

    “Aygaa, Stephyin

    Nyarggh!!!

Pyørn Born fer Flüffen. Pyågar Kneffelt Forskindû.

    Hmmm…Børk! Børk! Børk!”

  • Panther: It’s part of the reason we made the site: I hate reading bad news all the time! So I stopped reading it. But blogging and other people made me realize there is a lot of good going on still; I just have to find it.

Friar: Please pass on to Olaf: Tusen takk!

  • Friar,

Ask Olaf if he wants to have a pint of mead tomorrow night… ;)

  • “Hey Olaf, Kringen Bjørf Hŭsker Du Pinten-Drinkjen vas Brett?”

“Oh, Yah Yah, Husker Bork Pinten-Drinkjen, YAH!”

Brett: Olaf informs me he will be delighted to join you in a beverage tomorrow.

  • Come on now, did you really expect anything else of Olaf? Celebrating with friends, and celebrating friends, is a Viking priority!!

  • Hee hee, just being polite ;)

  • Steph,

I love it! Very inspiring! (hey, I know a few others have said they subscribed but when I tried it said I couldn’t, that something was wrong with it. Is there a trick? I’ll keep trying)

Such a great idea. Good news is out there, it just may be a little harder to find….but it does exist!

  • Wendi: And I know how you like inspiring things! :)

Even I subscribed and it worked, but let me delete my subscription and try again to see if there’s a problem…

  • Wendi: I was able to subscribe. There might be something wrong with your reader? I don’t know.

  • Steph, this site is wonderful, to both read and to look at. : )

I don’t know how you juggle them all, lol!

It reminds me of a site I used to frequent that has since gone on hiatus, but the site was pet news and feel-good pet stories.

You might think of having people submit good stories they come across for your site. Couldn’t hurt to have more than one scout out there.

    Em

  • Oooh, I feel happier already just knowing about it!

I’ve subscribed. Now make me smile! :)

  • Em: thank you! And I don’t juggle them at all well. Trust me. But this one is really fun and important, I think, too. Well, they are are, to me.

I definitely share your idea of having people submit good stories. See the Woohoo! Factor page. :) But we invite not only their personal good stories but any they want to put out there to share. You’re welcome to let me know of any! A couple of them were already referred to me by Brett!

Rebecca: Phew! Tall order. But we can deliver! I hope… :) Thanks for subscribing!
