Ouch. I would pass on that too I think. Hopefully it wasn&#039;t mandatory that you be off those two hours on your own time? That&#039;s the only way I can think of that would make it worse.

That&#039;s really very cool of your boss to do. My own boss shows his humanity to me almost every day. It takes a lot of my stress out of my job most of the time. And this holiday season it has been especially needed.

But that&#039;s all it takes to lift our spirits, sometimes.   A small token of appreciation, like that Chapters Gift Certificate.    It shows your boss is human.  

As opposed to the Widget Factory.  Our &quot;Holiday&quot; celebration was a buffet lunch at 2:30 in the afternoon.   That we were to pay for ourselves.  That we were to use our own time off to attend (they woudlnt&#039; even give us the 2 hours off).
