A Little Night Music

starsListen:

Across the water, in the distant dark punctuated by cricket chirps and softly babbling water, a faint chorus of boisterous voices sings Happy Birthday.

Their cheers echo at 11:18 pm. Wood smoke in the cool air and all you see is sky.

  • MMMmmm … I can smell the wood burning and feel the crisp air on my face. I’m there with you, Steph, in the next tent. :)

  • I really think we share the same experiences, you and I!

  • I particularly love that you posted this on my birthday…
Sorry for extended absence – real life took over with a vengeance around the start of Sept, and the computer hardly went on except for work. Hoping to do better now that things have settled down a touch…

  • Hawthorn,

Shut up! It really was your birthday?! AWESOME!! And happy belated birthday!

I totally understand stuff taking over. I’m like a chicken with its head cut off right now, getting ready for England and trying to finish proofing a book due a week today. If I wasn’t at the clinic it would be no problem, but…

Anyway. I really hope we can meet up while I’m there. That would be so great!

I’ll get in touch with you shortly after I arrive. And if you don’t hear from me, email, please!

  • Will do – but throw me an email now, just because I’ve changed computers recently and I’m not sure your address travelled with everything else. (It’s not alone, by the way – I keep discovering vital pieces of information which somehow failed to make the leap during the hard-drive-copying process. I ask you – how did I manage to retain audio files of Star Trek computer beeps, but leave behind my accounts spreadsheet?)
