One day I’m going to open a bookshop tearoom called Biblio. I’ve decided to do this because books and tea are what I love best, especially combined, and because one of my favourite things to do is share what I love best. I want for like-minded people who wish to embrace escape, even if just for a little while, to have the perfect place in which to do it. I want for Biblio to appeal to your senses and desires.
Also, as a Canadian who greatly appreciates Canadian literature, I hope Biblio will help promote Canadian culture and literary contribution and thus preserve it. I see Biblio as a Canadian culture hub, supporting literary and artistic causes and helping keep our heritage alive.
Since a very young age, I’ve been immersed in the world of literature. It’s where I feel I belong. Anywhere else I’m a bumbling fool. But as soon as we start talking books and authors over a good cuppa, I’m in my element.
Although I’ve studied English and held relevant jobs in bookshops, libraries, and in publishing (I’m currently a freelance copyeditor), and although I’ve read thousands of books, I will probably never consider myself very well-read. I have a memory for books and authors that surprises me and others. But there are countless tomes I haven’t yet enjoyed, and to that end, I need to commit more time to reading. I have to make the time in preparation for my bookshop.
Thus, Bella’s Bookshelves is going to be a celebration of literature and literary news. I’ll review books, talk about Biblio, discuss literary issues, and also post news pertaining to the literary world.
To my fellow bookworms and bibliophiles: I lift my cup of tea to you. May you be inspired as always to read more and build up your collections.
